The Dallas Lectures

Narrative and Counter Narrative

Published On January 1, 2020

During his U.S. tour in June 2015, Javed Ahmad Ghamidi delivered a series of lectures aimed at elucidating the traditional interpretations of Islam, tracing its historical evolution over the centuries, and highlighting how certain misinterpretations have fueled support for violent extremist factions, such as the Taliban and ISIL.

In the Counter Narrative section of these lectures, Mr. Ghamidi presents a correct understanding of the Quran, which unequivocally rejects the brutal violence perpetuated by extremists. He offers comprehensive and compelling arguments drawn from the Quran and Sunnah to address misconceptions within traditional narratives. Additionally, he outlines a constructive path for Muslims to navigate these challenging times.
