Statement from Al-Mawrid US

Jan 10th 2025

On behalf of the Board of Al-Mawrid United States (AMUS), we would like to address a concern brought to our attention regarding the funding sources of our organization and its initiative, the Ghamidi Center of Islamic Learning (GCIL).

We would like to clarify unequivocally that AMUS operates solely on private donations and revenue generated by our programs. At no point has AMUS or its initiative received public funding or financial support from the United States government, any state government, or any foreign government.

AMUS is governed by a Board of Trustees, which independently makes all financial and operational decisions in compliance with U.S. laws and nonprofit regulations. Neither Javed Ahmed Ghamidi nor any other scholar associated with AMUS is a member of this Board. Strict financial processes, as outlined in our bylaws, ensure all donations are legally received, accurately recorded, and disbursed under the supervision of the Board and Executive Director.

Additionally, AMUS is fully compliant with all applicable U.S. laws and regulations. Our annual tax return (Form 990) is prepared and filed by an independent CPA, ensuring transparency and accuracy and can be accessed online through searchable databases or requested through email at admin@almawridus.org.

If you have any further questions or require additional information, please feel free to reach out to us at admin@almawridus.org. We deeply value your trust and support of our mission.

Sincerely,

AMUS Board of Trustees
